The shape resembles this one https://collections.tepapa.govt.nz/object/170889, with the little knob at the top and then straight down, but it's MUCH more diminutive than the one in this photo. Size-wise, it resembles this http://candicehern.com/regencyworld/riding-habits-overview/riding_habit2a/ It's all black-brown, and the switch part (below the handle) is all woven and not floppy at all. It looks a LOT like the one in that fashion plate, except of course you can't actually see any details from that.
